Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANITA van der MEER (nee van SCHIE) Unexpectedly, on the morning of October 2, 2003, Anita passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 46 years, Gerry; daughter Angela; and son Lenard, his wife Lori and six grandchildren, Lauren, Emily, Caleb, Grace, Tessa and baby Fiona. She is also survived by brother Eric (Gerty) van Schie; sisters, Nellie (Bert) Bakker, Kathy (John) van Santen of Brandon, Thea (John) Borsboom and Willy (Ed) Carleton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and good friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Jacob and Johanna van Schie; and brothers, John and Neil van Schie. Anita was born July 25, 1936 in Nieuw Vennep, the Netherlands. She immigrated to Canada with her family in 1953, settling in St. Eustache, Middlechurch, then in St. Andrews. She met Gerry here, and they were married in 1957. Together, they settled in St. Vital. Anita was always busy, holding various "jobs" after coming to Canada - first on a sugar beet farm, at the Sanitorium, and also for Canada Safeway for many years, then starting up a family greenhouse business in Ile des Chenes in 1974. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, crocheting, knitting and needlepoint, travelling and of course, her flowers. But her family gave her the most joy. Prayers will be held Tuesday, October 7 at 7:30 p.m. at Notre Dame de la Misericorde, on Main Street in Ile des Chenes, with viewing half an hour prior to prayers. Mass will be Wednesday, October 8 at 2:00 p.m. also at church. In lieu of flowers, family and friends may make a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Anitas memory. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. 982-7550
